My passion for photography starts with a feeling most people know but rarely name.

Nostalgia.

The specific, quiet peace that washes over you when you look back at a moment that already passed — a birthday from ten years ago, a holiday gathering, an ordinary afternoon that turned out to be anything but ordinary — and realize that it still exists in perfect, vivid detail because someone thought to capture it.

That feeling is why I photograph.

I grew up in Cincinnati — born and raised in this city that shaped everything about who I am. And somewhere between my early days shooting street photography, family gatherings, and sessions with friends who trusted me with their stories, I realized something that changed the direction of my entire life.

This is what I was made to do.

I went on to earn my associate’s degree from the University of Cincinnati, combining formal education with nearly a decade of hands-on, self-taught refinement that no classroom fully captures. Nearly nine years of showing up for clients, studying light, studying people, and building the specific instinct that only comes from genuine experience behind the lens.

But the moment that truly shaped the heart of Captivated Impressions had nothing to do with a camera.

It had everything to do with loss.

When I look back at the family members I have loved and lost, I feel the absence of photographs more deeply than almost anything else. The images I wish existed. The faces I want to show my children. The stories I want to tell with visual proof instead of fading memory.

That absence lives in me every single time I pick up my camera.

It reminds me that what I do matters far beyond the session day. Far beyond the gallery delivery. Far beyond the beautiful images sitting in a client’s camera roll.

I become a permanent part of someone’s legacy every time I press the shutter.

And I carry that responsibility with everything I have. 🖤
